Bristol Classic 1990 Port Morant Demerara Port Finish

The spices, that aniseed - Port Morant is alive! Recommended.

Nose is wine and oak, dry, almost astringent (in a good way). Taste is dry peppery wine, raisins, more oak, bit more spice, maybe a hint of brandy. Really long warming finish.

Port Morant is an acquired taste and not for everyone, but no one can deny the big taste that comes from the many esters that these kind of rums produce. This one is somehow lacking in esters.

Nose: Anise and fruit
Taste: Anise, fruit and a long and flavourful finish with a hint of the cask finish
Overall: The cask finish might have hurt the esters of this Port Morant, but it have given a more balanced rum than normal for a Port Morant. It is more of a people pleaser, while still being good enough for people who like the traditional Port Morant.

46% ABV. Very PM nose. Anise, funk, and damp, musty warehouse. Some astringency. Very old wood. P: delicious, old rum. Very savory and umami. Slightly oily and numbing. Long, long finish.
