I like a deeper, smoother, strong flavor without a lot of burn. This Rum is one of my favorites.
I like this one. Had to have sister send from the east coast before they had it here on the left coast.
This is a decent spirit all around. The color in the glass is nothing less than spectacular. The scent the excellence of this spirit is aware in the nosing and glass. This smoothness is amazingly apparent. The taste is quite flavorful. This is a great spirit I highly recommend this. Straight up no rocks.
I took a bottle or 2 to a reunion of retired Naval personnel, We had a plethora of Rums from many makers. Once the Screech was opened it seemed to disappear into thin air, and the other Rums were left untouched. It was so much smoother than the others and had such a much more satisfying taste that I had to go out and get more.
Given its reputation and the source of its name, you might expect Screech to be a bit harsh, but it's actually smooth and flavourful. It stands up to cola and can be sipped. Has a nice butterscotch quality to it that I bet would also make it good in eggnog.
Realy good taste. You should try it. Don't suit everyone but I like it.
Screech was the name Newfoundlanders called their home brew - this is much better stuff, I'm sure. It's in my cupboard now, alongside my favourite Old Sam Demerara (also marketed by the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation).
The Amber tones are like Amber. This is Old Sam's little brother only not as sweet and thick with less of a leathery finish. It would be better as an overproof, but its not offered without spices. While it's probably nothing like the original I keep grabbing it off the shelf.
Having been to Newfoundland I had to give this a try so picked up a bottle while in Michigan. This rum is a blend with a Jamaican base that shines through without off flavors. It's surprisingly smooth, too. Considering the price point, about $19 US in Michigan, it's a fairly good buy. I tried this as usual: neat, neat with water, chilled and on the rocks. It held up wll for all four.

Island rum from the NORTH!! 10 out of 10
Good taste and good colour, smooth, rich body and great spice to flavour!! Makes me think of Newfoundland and a cold winters day drinking rum looking at the sea. Sparkles like the northern lights and nothing better than sipping rum watching the sky light up!!
