First nose from the bottle reveals sweet vanilla and raisins. Very impressive oak and sherry notes as well. A very soft initial nose.
A very smooth dark amber color in the glass. Fast running, and medium to thin legs.
In the glass, a powerful oak nose with a hint of sherry. Vanilla, raisins and a hint of coffee.
The tast is initially a slow burned or roasted wood. Not overly sweet taste of vanilla moves to the back edge of the tongue, and lasts a fair time. There is a definite stronger hit from the alcohol, due to the 42% vol, but defiantly not unpleasant in any way. In my opinion it gives it just that edge, which sets it apart from the other rums int the Ron Quorhum family.
When the initial hit dies down, it leaves you with the most wonderful, and longlasting aftertaste, of buttery smooth dried fruit, vanilla and sherry. The sherry is a wonderful surprise, which comes through, at a very late stage, but the way the tast just keeps on expanding and evolving is quite exciting.
My only regret is that I only bought one bottle.
Bottled in 2018, bottle nr.951 from 4000. Blender-Nancy G.de Blanck. Thank you.
As a fan of QRM I appreciate extra sherry taste. It may have some additives but in this case I don’t care because it is good.
Full bodied and sweet with intense cherry flavour. Reminds me of single vintage diplomaticos.
Jeszcze niedawno można go kupić tylko w jednym miejscu - lotnisko Billund w Danii.
The Ron Quorhum 30 Travel Edition is a special unicorn with it only being available in Billund Airport. I happened to pass through the airport on the way to London, so of course i had to pick up a bottle.
Nose: Oak, toffee, raisin and apricot
Taste: Dried fruits, oak, toffee and a clear taste of citrus in the background of it all
Overall: This is not much different from the regular QRM 30, perhaps a tad more toffee and citrus, but not a overwhelming change of pace. With that said, should you find yourself in Billund, then you should get a travel-bottle.
Alkohol: 42 %
Původ: Dominikánská republika
Aroma: Kůže, med, včelí plástve. Hutné, hřejivé, nasládlé aroma. Sladce větrové, skořice, hřebíček, lesní med, belgické pralinky. (90 b)
Chuť: Ne až tak sladký, jak jsem očekával po přivonění. Kůže, kořenitost, lesní větrovost, v dochuti pak hřebíček. Solidní, ale chuť a vůně jsou docela v nerovnováze. Tipuju 42%. (86 b)
Body: 88/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnán s kamarádem v rámci degustace sedmi rumů na naší lednové akci.
I'll keep the review as simple as is this rum. This is really dull, overly spicy and relatively burny (but in a boring way) product easy to confuse with other similar averagers. Nowhere near to sherry cask quality benchmark rums like lets say Baoruco 21y. Nose and palate are in perfect match. For what it is, the rum is very expensive - about 60% of very common Plantation XO value, which is very similar rum but less dull and probably tad sweeter. 5/10 but will possibly downgrade. At least the pair of bottles I got with is handy here.

Nice Sherry finish 9 out of 10
The sherry is already little presented in aroma. First taste is smooth, warm, sweeter (but not too much) balanced with fruit and oak tones. Sherry tones nicely presented and ended in long aftertaste.
More different from standard QRM30 than the Oporto version, but is question, if the sherry finish is worth the 50% higher price :-(
