Punta Cana Tesoro Single Malt Whisky Finish

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did, as I generally don't care too much for whisky aged rums. But I started out with a comparison between this and the Punta Cana XOX, and I really struggled to pick a winner. Ultimately, I chose this one, as it was a tad smoother and just as sweet, even with the whisky aging. I found the XOX to be a bit harsher, as I mentioned in my original review of that.

Smells and tastes of molasses, vanilla, spice, and a hint of whisky, but not so much whisky as to be overpowering. It's actually an amazing value and I highly recommend it!

It does have a nice flavor. I was skeptical when given this bottle as other rums from Oliver have been overly sweet. This one might have some additives but is not as noticeable as their other rums. You can feel some of the Tomatin influence. I would love more transparency about the details of the rum, and their website is very mute on that.

Decent caramel aroma. No additional spices in taste, bitterness on the tail.

Veľmi pekná fľaša, dominikánsky rum o ráži 38% je sýtej jantárovej farby, zrel v sudoch po whisky. Vôňa je skôr menej výrazná, alkoholová, až trochu syntetická. Chuťovo sa jedná o stredne sladký rum, do popredia sa popri dreve dostáva hlavne vanilka a karamel. Príjemne dlho sa rozplýva na jazyku, oceňujem jemnosť. Tú whisky je v ňom určite poznať a hoci nie som jej milovník, tu mi vôbec nevadí. Zaujímavý počin, za rozumnú cenu, takže kúpu neľutujem. Určite skúsim aj cenovo porovnateľného súrodenca Esplendido. Tesoro síce nie je ničím supervýnimočný, no rovnako nemôže ani ničím uraziť. Dielňa Oliver & Oliver je v zásade zárukou primeranej kvality.

Very nice rum. Tones of vanilla, a bit of caramel and lingering sweetness with a touch of whisky. Paired beautifully with a cigar.

Very recommendable! The were able to mix the tastes of rum and whiskey very well. They blend greatfully in this bottle.

Dost mi připomněl Presidente Marti. Oproti němu je ale cítit méně sladkosti a možná vyšší suchost díky zrání v sudech po whiskey. Opravdu se dá vychutnávat.

The whiskey part is a nice change. It's not sweet and has a bit of a bite all the way through.

Very nice colour, and a big surprise for me. This is my next favorite after Dos maderas rum, which reminds me very much of. I give it 7,5, because for its price about 35 EUR, it is excelent rum.
