Jefferson's 1785 Dark Rum is such a hard find, but what a massive disappointment. Bottle looks decent, the color is light golden. Smell test is pure glue. Taste test is a mixture of banana, vanilla and glue. Very short afterburn and then nothing.

A little honey and nuts mix with more spicy notes of cinnamon and a strong treacly note.
"It’s reasonably funky but is more molasses driven than most Jamaicans. It packs a little more tropical fruit and funk."

I Wanted to Like it More 5 out of 10
Came across the Immortal Spirits Distillery while going to watch the eclipse in Oregon. A cool pub, great t-shirts, and just an okay rum. Initially it wasn't as subtle as I would have hoped and there was nothing unique about the flavor that jumped out at me. Of course, Oregon isn't on the map because of their amazing rums. Immortal Spirits does have other products that may taste better than their rum- and could merit a try. Postscript: After more tries, a buttery flavor came out and the rting was raised.
