Iโve had this rum in my cabinet for some time and Iโve tasted it alongside some of its main competitors and this one is my favorite one. No off flavors, goes down smooth, and has a nice nose. Grassy notes are strong but not overpowering. Makes an excellent Ti Punch.
This one feels like it will be my go to for an images agricole.
It takes a couple sips to get through that heat I think, plus need to like agricole.
Sort of fruity.. sweetish salty-ish, depth
Bottle purchased at Jungle Jimโs in Cincinnati. Crazy cheap at less than $30 for a L. Pours clear. Aroma of biscuit dough rising in a window of opportunity. Crazy flavors that I did not expect. Spice- cinnamon and chili pepper. Hot palate but not too hot. Weird vegetable finish is my only knock on this very fun rum.
excellent example of rhum agricole - heavy cane nose and flavor..I love it in a Ti punch
In previous episode that was Barbancourt vs Trois Rivieres. Tonight this is Clairin vs Neisson - more mighty couple.
Nose: both are pretty aromatic and just Ok. Clairin's is a bit more stronger, full of ripe fruits. Neisson's has some ethanol.
Palate: both are absolutely smooth, rich. Clairin is more oily, fruity, citrus. Neisson is somehow subtile, a little spicy and peppermint. Both cores are delicious licorice, sugar cane.
Aftertaste's duration is infinity.
I have not found favorite between them. Maybe Neisson is easiest to consume. But let Clairin breath for minus 5ยฐ - it can open more aroma, taste.
Compared to S1E1 this pair is perfect.
This is the gold standard for this style, it does all the things an unaged rhum agricole should and represents the AOC with panache.
If I could get everyone trying this style to taste this first I would. So, if youโre reading this - get a bottle.
Agricole by the book. Grassy. New go to. Great proof. Enjoy this is in cocktails too.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A damn fine agricole!

It's got all the bright, grassy, and vegetal notes you'd expect from an agricole while also being very smooth and buttery, especially for a 100 proof unaged spirit. Makes a fantastic Ti' punch!
