Say what you want about how it’s a blend, but the sherry finish on this one makes it the best of their portfolio. The sherry finish influence leads to lots of cherry fruit notes on top of their dark blend rum, which has plenty of chocolate and caramel characteristics. Imagine a chocolate covered cherry, dipped in caramel….but it’s rum. And it’s delicious
Aroma - Fresh sugar cookie followed by a hint of raisin.
Taste - Cinnamon sugar toast followed by slight barrel spice.
This rum is definitely better than their regular dark offering. However, that does not make it good. It still has a very obvious artificial quality to it and the flavor brings that out. It is overly sweet with a poor finish. Only recommend to someone who doesn't like rum because this is a sugar bomb.
Bought this because my normal sipper was out of stock, so wanted to try something new. A wonderful rum, very smooth and a sweet sherry finish. I shared it with some friends and everyone asked for more. Might be my new goto for my everyday sipper.
I first found this rum while in Key West. They don't distill only finish and blend. OK, well the building looked good so we dived in. Very snobbish and into selling the Hemingway name was our impression. We tried a few samples and I found this one suited my palate the most although they didn't offer their premium rum for tasting. At a cool C-note I'm not into religion (praying its good). After being dodged by my questions we did find out they use rum from Louisiana. That was enough for me so we did purchase this one for $45. We weren't disappointed with this but were disappointed we weren't able to sample their top shelf. Back home I found it at TW at $44 which although $1 cheaper we again felt ripped off in Key West. I have frequently purchased this from TW and do enjoy it but will never go back to their place in Key West. Although this one is a winner they are not. Lose some win some!
Note: This is a blended Rum. The 24 on the bottle does not stand for the age of any of the rums in it, it‘s just their „taste profile“, as they say (see image).
Nose: warm, toasted oak wood, some subtle hints of sweet spices and Sherry. Very nice.
Palate: woody and spicy body. Tastes warm, smooth and sweet.
Caution: Spill alert due to the silly bottle design. Use a Drop Stop.
Better than Magec XO (other Rum with Sherry finish)
8-9 (24gpl?)
I like Papas Pilar but this one comes too strong. It’s very alcohol forward and it takes away from the Sherry, oak, caramel flavor profile.
At first , too sweet. Came back to it and cant get enough
43% ABV.
Appearance: 4/5 Deep Amber
Taste: 5/5
Nose: Brown Sugar/Maple Syrup
Palate: Vanilla, dried fruit
Overall: 4/5 - We loved the flavors and the Sherry notes stood out. We had tried the 2021Legacy Edition and really enjoyed this one more. This Rum for the price was outstanding
Beautiful on the nose, complex on the pallet and a good value for the quality
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I don't like the brand, I don't like Solera, I don't like slapping random numbers on a bottle to suggest great age to the gullible. This "mutt rum" claims sources in five different countries with a variety of finishes, but... Well, it comes together. Smooth but tasty, not excessively sweetened, it could have been a mess but ends up being an accessible mid range sipper.
