140 proof and super spicy/peppery. This is fun stuff, but must be respected. Definitely takes a minute or two to acclimate at full strength. Once done, the spice and citrus notes take over. Great mouth feel and neverending finish.
With ample water (recommended), all of the flavors develop further; pepper, lemon, lime, salty, sweetness, grapefruit, and still some heat. Some smokiness in the background. This reminds me of Clairin, but to 11.
Excellent distillate and def worth the money considering the quality and the fact that it is a liter bottle.
Tasted at Hot Joy in San Antonio. Clear. Crisp. Incredible. Knock your socks off bread dough. Biscuits right out of the oven. Slight boiled turnip aroma. Crazy hot and painful. After a few drops of water, I get fromage flavors. Is that even possible? Still crazy hot. Needles on the tongue. Not for the faint, but definitely for me.
Tasted 2/19/23 just after Cornelius adjourned the bar at Hot Joy.
Traditional agricol nose but ummmm YES the flavor is amazing. It's like drinking a load of sour dough bread that has been sitting in 86 degree sunshine in a clover meadow ☘️☘️
Nesson 70
Nosing
Oranges , pineapple, acetone , nail polish olives
Tasting
Lime , caracalla notes , tastes like a cipriani in a glass ,
Pour moi l'un des meilleurs blancs. Très parfumé. Délicieux en ti punch. (trop fort pour moi pour être bu pur)
In the glass: glencairn, served neat; completely clear
Nose: grass, herbal, fennel
Palate: surprisingly smooth at 70%ABV, same notes as the nose at first with creamy and sweet mouth feel. Fennel, licorice, olives, sugarcane and brine, and finally fruity and earthy finish. Sublime.
My 3rd rhum agricole and probably my 30st rum. No extra sweetness, no extra oily feeling... you feel the field of sugar canes. Some grass and some black truffles. Not exactly to drink neat... add a splash of water or, better, lime and cane syrup.
This crystal clear spirit pulls no punches in its full funk sugar cane olfactory assault upon first nosing. This is a promising characteristic, that gives way to the most sublimely nuanced Agricole I've tasted heretofore. I cannot recommend this enough.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I'm still relatively new to unaged agricole, so take this review with a grain of salt. I was hoping it would be a bit more "in your face" type of rum, but so far it isn't. With a little water added to bring the ABV down to a more sippable level, it opens up and has a nice flavor profile with the grassy and earthy notes. The longer it lingers on the palate the better it gets, its got a lot going on, but its not super intense.
