Voor de prijs een lekkere rum, niet te speciaal, iets brandend in de afdronk
I had heard good things about Don Q Oak, but it disappointed unfortunately
With 45% alcohol the Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced from Puerto Rico is a strong rum. With a beautiful golden colour, I had high expectations. It smells very heavily of vanilla, and you know it contains 45% of alcohol by smelling only. The taste is a little less overpowering. Again some vanilla in your mouth. Disappointing that the oak (the taste you would expect judging the name) is not identifiable that much. Good aftertaste, nothing to complain about that. The aftertaste is way more subtle than expected.
Can’t complain. Good spiced rum. Love Puerto Rican rums and this is a classic
I bought this on a recommendation but could never learn to like it. Too strong for my liking along with a lack of spice flavors. One and done.
The 5% additional alcohol really matters, as it maken the rum too strong for my liking! Although the taste is not that bad ...
I've been looking for a spiced rum that satisfies my palate. I bought a bottle of Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced, and it has disappointed me a lot. Neither the aroma nor the taste has impressed me at all. In my opinion, it's too strong both on the palate and when drinking it. So far, the only spiced rum I've liked is the Chairman's Reserve Spiced. I got to try it in a liquor store, but there were no more bottles available for sale.
As for the Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced, it hasn't been a good experience. It even seems more like a regular gold rum than a spiced rum.
It is a really fresh tasting spiced rum. Rich, warm and vibran.
"Cinnamon and caramel in the mid palate and the finish is long and very spicy. Quite a lot of oak and some fiery notes of ginger and cinnamon. A touch of white pepper."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

In a rum tasting with 3 spiced rums, this one ended at the Bottom. The nose and smell are verry good, however tastewise we prefered the Bayou spiced and Ron de Jeremy hardcore spiced over the Don Q spiced.
