Myers's Original Dark

a good rum for cocktails, but not one you drink straight!

This is the only dark rum most American bars carry. Not my favorite and I will drink a spiced over it.

I have found this is a cheap tasting dark rum. Drank it tonight with coke and found it to be less than enjoyable.

I've been using this for years in Mai Tai's and Rum Runners, but just tasted it neat for the first time. Very bitter and harsh, but I don't think it's made for sipping. Always have a bottle on hand, but won't be tasting straight again.

Colour: dark

Taste: strong burn and alcohol

Smell: alcoholic

Rating: I will not buy it again...rather use Gosling's Seal.

It tastes ok. I wouldn’t go out and buy it unless like I said it was the best thing in the store.

If you like a very dark, almost bitter rum then this is the rum for you. Not a bad rum just too dark for me

Everyone has their favorite between this and Gosling's, and I prefer Gosling's. Gosling's isn't quite as harsh or funky.

I was recommended this by someone who found out i was a rum lover. I can only conclude they didnt like me. Glad i didnt but a bottle. Mind you I’m not a big fan of dark, navy or most jamaican rum.

I don't know what to say about this. It's a truly strange experience. It just tastes really weird. It doesn't taste like it was made how rum is normally made. It feels like there's an extra step, like maybe they slipped in some cola flavouring or something. It's definitely something to do with trying to make it dark. In trying to make this a dark rum they've fiddled with it and it just doesn't taste great. You've got to mix it and it does well in a zombie.
