Excellent rum for price. I have paid twice as much for inferior rums. I recommend drinking it neat and at room temperature to enjoy the nice carmel flavor. I can’t wait to try the 12 year!
Excellent Rum. Natural sweetness and barrel are evident. The higher proof adds complexity. I thoroughly enjoyed this rum.
Light Carmel nose. I get a thicker mouth feel that dries out quick. Quick Carmel taste transitions to a peppery finish.
Drank this on ice an wow….perfect blend with just the melting ice….
Light nose. Caramel. Big dry entry. Moderately astringent.
It's nice to have a moderately aged, moderately strong, dry rum available. In a Daiquiri, it was likewise dry, and a bit too tart (as Pagan Idol is wont to serve their Daiquiris). Still, makes for a very good mixer, and a reasonable sipper! Ask for it on your next visit.

The Real McCoy from the Foursquare distillery, has got its name from the legendary rum runner Bill McCoy who sailed rum from the Caribbean to New York during the prohibition era and was well known because he delivered not adulterated rum. His rum was known as The Real McCoy.
This rum is a blend of copper column still and pot still rum aged for 5 years in former Kentucky Bourbon casks that’s blended to 46% with Barbados spring water.
The nose is fruity, woody and dry with aromas of bourbon, vanilla and leather.
At the palate and during the medium long finish if’s full bodied, well balanced and rather complex with flavors of fruits, oak, bourbon, vanilla and spices.
My overall opinion is that this must be one of the absolute best 5yo rums at around this ABV.
