Mount Gay Extra Old (often written "OX") is a blend of rums aged between 8 and 15 years in American bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay Distilleries is the oldest operating distillery in the Americas - producing rum in Barbados since 1703. It's original name was Mount Gilboa, and in 1801 renamed Mount Gay after the distillery's manager Sir John Gay Alleyne.

I bought this because I enjoy Mount Gay black barrel and i thought this would be good too. It's a good sipper and a good mixer is well.
Wouldn't mix this. It reminds me of a scotch. I wouldn't even put ice in this.
This is just a touch smoother than the Mount Gay Black Barrel. It's also heavier ( fuller ) taste wise. I gave the Black Barrel a 7. This one gets an 8. I like it with pineapple juice or orange juice.
Little bit heavier. Not the best idea to drink too much from it. But on the other very smooth rum . loved it
Tres bon rhum , tres doux, boisé , un peu fumée, fruité sans etre trop sucré.
MGXO is the best I had so far. It has rich nose, the palette is something I've never experienced with another rum. I adore how it's fruity but not sweet, it's subtle and smooth. It has almost everything I find appealing on rum.
A little pricey compared to many other of my favorites in the 8, 9, 10 ranges. But not the most expensive and reasonable enough to keep in your rotation. Yum.
Great bottle, mediocre an unremarkable rum. Looks impressive, but the quality taste just isn't present.

It is spicy especially on the finish and a little bit short.
"The nose is very fruity. Raisin, prunes and currants with a little banana and some tropical fruits a little pineapple perhaps."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is a nice rum, but I'm at a loss to describe the taste in specifics. I can compare it to RL Seale's, but perhaps a little lighter tasting and with a slightly less smooth finish. I can't imagine too many people being disappointed with it. However, it's still not one I'd purchase again, unless there were no other/better choices.
