It is a bomb of esters. FULL of them. Too much for my personal palate. But is it good? If you like that style, yes.

Immediately after pouring into my glass my wife asks in three meters distance: "Where does the rum-raisin-nuts chocolate smell comes from?
This rum is awesome ... this intensity ... it is not necessary to bring your nose close to the glass and you will already smell tons of fruit esters.
Okay, let me try to describe the esters that I smell: There are all kinds of jam (e.g. raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, strawberry), exotic fruit smoothies (mango, papaya, banana), fried banana, roast apple with cinnamon, toffee apples, candy floss, Juicy Fruit chewing gum, orange cake, nougat, chestnuts, apple strudel with custard ...
Despite of the high alcohol content it does not burn the nose.
In my opinion this is simply the best smelling rum in the world!

Extremely powerful and bold. Of course the 63.8% alcohol burn like hell, but in my opinion it can easily be enjoyed undiluted "drop by drop".
The intensity of aromas is unbelievable. Extreme sweet with an unearthly and unthinkable fruitiness ... an explosion of esters. Under this circumstances it is difficult for any other aromas to reach the tastebuds, which give signals of complete overflow, but there is some toffee and iced tea in the background.

Long and sweet with a dry, oaky, spicy and slightly bitter aftertaste.

In my opinion this is one of the best rums in the world. An unforgettable experience.
Okay, I know for others it is one of the worst.
But isn't it similar for peated whiskies ... some love it ... others hate it.
I would not be surprised if "High Ester" will become a Hype similar to what "Peated" is for whisky ... and honestly ... is "smells like fruit esters" really worse than "smells like cowshed"?
