I am into A.H. Riise, but sometimes I need a different taste to realize where home is....
I tried Mocambo 20 years after reading the Ratings. Smooth at the beginning, dark chocolate and cinnamon on the finish. A tiny bit of pepper perhaps. very interesting.
Dark amber in the glass.
In the nose dominant wood tones with caramel as a companion.
On the palate, the wood remains dominant, followed by an old caramel.
In the finish sharp with a sweet caramel.
A Mexican who wants to be experienced. Rather for advanced.
Tried a flight of 5 Mocambo rums. Wasn't expecting much from a Mexican rum but this was nice. Wouldn't rush out and buy a bottle but definitely would drink again
This rum is decent and it's not horrendously expensive but despite it being aged 20 years, it doesn't seem like it is. It burns and bites like many lesser rums. Its flavor is alright. It has a good level of sweetness and character and it still beats a lot of mediocre rum but this isn't as prestigious as it seems like it would be. It might be worth a try but personally, I wouldn't buy it again.
I want to like this rum, but honestly there is nothing special about it. There are cheaper rums with more complexity to be had at a better price.
Sherry and coffee notes, not to sweet...
Smells like raisins.
But, on the weak side for a 20 yrs old rum...
Starts of with a hint of a woody feel to it, then ends in a smoky taste.
Ok sipper if its neat
Has a medium tail
Quite nice on the rocks
Průměrný rum, který není ničím zajímavý. Není špatný, ale to je od rumu za tu cenu málo.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Woody, earthy and bold rum from Mexico

I love the bottle presentation and the fact that no two bottles are alike, similar to Wild Tiger Special Reserve rum from India. A single cask rum similar to its younger 15 year old sibling. Some bitterness and dryness coming from the leather, cigar leave, and woody taste. The taste is somewhat bitter and tastes like dried fruit. Would do well in a Cuba Libre or other mixed drinks.
