Assertive yet smooth. Caribbean accents with Central American personality. Difficult to describe precisely but to this palate it’s a definite keeper. Subtle flavors emerge… cinnamon, clove plus aromas of freshly crushed cane. It’s a matter of taste and will probably differ from palate to palate but this is an intriguing, multifaceted spirit from a hard to pin down distiller who’s doing things right.

I purchased this Bacoo 12-year Rum at one of my local stores when they had a promotional package with a free tiki mug. Nice mug but the rum blew me away. Really smooth and sweet, no burn and flavors galore. I have to rate it right up there with Atlantico, another Dominican favorite. Price was good and mixed it with some juice, fantastic! Sounds like it may be a good sipper also and defiantly going to try that. Muy Bien.

Nice tasting rum, nothing stood out especially to me. Not too oaky. I will probably sip it.

A very pleasant surprise to get a great sipping rum. Dark amber, vanilla and a little sweet butterscotch mixed with a herbal hint that comes to life as it warms in the mouth. This was the last of a gift bottle, so I went shopping for more an made the mistake of picking up the 8 year version. Not worth the lower price, just get the 12 year Bacoo and enjoy.

I have never been a Rum drinker, Bourbon, scotch and Irish whiskey have always been my favorites. I tried this on a fluke and have been drinking it ever since. A little sweet caramel burst up front smooth not too much after taste. In Key West there is Rum bar, we did flights to sample different rums. I found one I want to buy and try against my Bacoo, Dos Madera 5+5, but have not found it in the local ABC stores. I read here that a good standard rum is Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, I bought a bottle and did a side by side taste test. To me the Bacoo was better and it is $15 cheaper. The difference, the Bacoo is sweeter up front the Diplomatico has a strong molasses taste.

So I prefer my runs with a bit sweet taste and easy on the nose. This one does that. From Dom Rep, it is a good sipper for me. I did add a small ice cube.

This rum is good on its own! Very solid sipping rum and at a great price, around $28 dollars!! For a 12 year! Really good stuff in my opinion!

As a lover of the molasses and vanilla notes in rum over bananas, this hits all my checks.

Relatively smooth, a little sweet. Nice flavor, but a little bland compared to really good rum. For the price, it’s one of the best.

Part of my ongoing venture into the rum world. I will admit that I bought this more about the age statement than anything else. It’s very drinkable on ice, and I’ll probably try it in an old fashioned.

It tastes sweet to me, but with nice caramel notes. It does have an interesting chemical note, but that could be a funk that I’m not used to.
