Great limited edition to the XO line, smoother around the edges not quite as bourbon like. Very solid good rum.
When I drink this rum I feel like I am drinking something very good in the classic sense. The lack of added sugar gives it a natural sweetness and a very pleasant rich aroma. For me, as in many other reviews, it is a benchmark for other rums. It presents a high level. Any rum that is better than this certainly deserves attention.
I felt the flavour was too subtle - it lacked the punch I'm looking for in a sipping rum. Not as smooth as hoped either.
Amazing back-to-back rum tasting with Falcon91Wolvrn03 continued with Mount Gay XO Cask Strength. Nice old school bottle and label design. Dark golden color. Very boozy and woody to your nose and palate when neat sipped with very limited amount of depthness. Surprisingly very short ending.
N- Authentic good rum that brought smile to face are hard to come by. Nose heating at 63% with rich sweetness of creamy oak, earth, banana yoghurt and liquorice along coastal edge. Deep sweet phenol waving in after breath. Sticky sweet glutinous rice pudding with mango. Complex. (92/23)
P- Succulent, vanilla, banana with limey. Caramelize banana skin sort of sweet tannin and rubbery mouthfeel, tarry rope lurking. (90/22)
F- Long, mouth coating, chewy and firm, full of oak fruits and minty. Traces of desired bitterness developed, with fine strength careless on the tongue overtimes. (92/23)

I tried this popular rum. All in all I must say it is sweet but not too much. No great fantasy for me but a good time. A very balanced rum that you easily sip. I just expected a special twist !
Yes, it's classic. But is almost perfect! Beautiful colour, nice flavour, not to much, not less. With 43% is quite strong, but the alcohol is under control, nothing to shock your nose.
But the flavour is rich! Classically mix af vanilla, caramel and chocolate, and a little bit spice at the end. Maybe because of alcohol, but I think is something real there.
One of the best! For sure is the oldest :)
I had this in fall of 2019 and for the price (Euro 35 on sale) it is an outstanding mixer. The first taste is VERY harsh, like Hennessy VS Cognac (good for cooking). With ice cubes it is MUCH better and more like a whiskey. For just sipping, like a good cognac, it was disappointing. However, for mixing the strong flavours really came through in a positive way. A very good value. Overall, a 9 -.
Just finished the bottle and I’m still not sure what to think about this rum. I like it, but..a hot finish kind of bites, admittedly it cools down to a enjoyable green apple/ pear finish that leaves you wanting another sweet slap to your taste buds. I’ve got another bottle, perhaps I’ll bump it up, but for now my rating is a 8. Clean and crisp Overall an enjoyable experience. Solid 8. Short in the finish and it’s lack of depth prevents it from going any higher.
"Everything seems more concentrated – all the flavours which existed before are present but just in much more clarity. ."
