Bought a bottle of Humboldt Rum for $21 while in San Francisco. Pretty decent bottle and label design. Light golden color. Very sweet notes masked by unaged alcohol to the nose and palate. Overly sweet ending. Not bad as a mixer rum, but too sweet as a neat sipper.

When it comes to rum, the small distillaries can be hit or miss. This one was better than expected given the location and had somewhat of a cachaca flavor. But milder. a 5.5 on mu scale.

They didn't make the mistake of making it overly sweet but this isn't a great rum either. Not quite bottom barrel and has a clean enough nose. However this is a low six to a medium five.
