Alander Spiced rum, a version of the base used in their White Rum that’s infused with whole bean spices (“commonly found in Scandinavian baking,” according to the distillery) and bottled at 86 proof. No artificial color or flavors added.

Picked this up out of curiosity from my local Wal Mart's shelf when I saw it was distilled in small town Minnesota. You'd think that I'd have been burned by buying spiced rums at this point, but I felt this one was worth a shot. Alander bills itself as "Nordic spiced", and I will grant that it is a VERY different flavor profile than other spiced rums I've had. Also, at 86 proof, it's a harder hitter in the alcohol department.
"Whole bean vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves" doesn't sound too different from the usual spiced rum makeup, but this tastes way more like my mother's home-treated aquavit than any rum I've purchased at a store. It has a greater burn than I'm used to, going down, but the flavor of the spices softens it somewhat. Nice aftertaste - I certainly get allspice and cloves as predominant.
All in all, this is okay for sipping by my standards, but I probably wouldn't buy it again unless I were purchasing it for someone who I knew liked spiced rums, or maybe as a piece of local interest.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted at the Tilted Tiki on 8/9/23. Pours a cloudy gold- somewhat opaque. Aroma mostly vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Big tingly mouthfeel with cloves and allspice. Thin palate and not syrupy sweet at all. The spice burn is dominant. I’ve had worse.
