Malibu Coconut

Canada | Flavored | 21% ABV

Malibu Coconut Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and blended with coconut and sugar. The brand is owned by one of the world's largest spirits producers, Pernod Ricard.

Fine pre mixed drinker for a beach run. Not for serious drinking.

This is advertised as caribbean rum with coconut flavour added to it, not just rum. They do a fantastic job of making a perfect mixer which is what this was created for. Sweet, flavourful and addictive. i'm getting exactly what i was told i would get. A staple in my liquor cabinet

I like Malibu on a warm night mixed with a combination or orange, pineapple, and just a splash of cranberry juice. Also good if you add a dark rum to go with it such as kraken

Malibu Coconut Rum…Malibu is synonymous with the flavored rum category. Heck they might have invented it! Isn’t this usually everyone’s first coconut rum? Here I am just now getting to it. Was it worth the wait? Nope.

The aroma when I first opened the bottle was very nice. Pretty much what i expected. The smell suntan lotion. It’s like being poolside at a cheap hotel on a hot day. The taste? I was a bit let down. Sure there was some coconut and sugar. Lots of sugar really. But still I can’t believe with all that sweet how much of a bitter finish there is in Malibu Coconut Rum. Quite a bit of astringency for only clocking in at 42 octane. Even with a very small amount in my standard Tampico Citrus Punch that bitter finish just reared it’s ugly…tail.

The verdict? I will stick to Whaler’s or Cruzan for my low octane coconut rum mixers. Parrot Bay 90 proof coconut rum when I need some kick.

This rum is one of my wife's favorites but I can only rate it this. It's a $16 bottle to mix with sprite cranberry or a cocktail of other sorts. Not great but happy wife happy life.

Good in certain mixed drinks. Not really good to drink straight.

Your tropical drinks will be much more flavorful by adding this great tasting fun rum.
I enjoy sipping it straight up.

It's hard to call this sweet thing a rum. But thrown in a coke or some kind of summer cocktail, it actually does it's job. During a day on the beach, I don't mind a Malibu and coke. If no one is looking, of course...

Purely a mass production rum. The coconut is artificial and quite obvious sugar addition. Repugnantly sweet.
