Un rom special pentru cine apreciază romurile de Jamaica. Mie personal nu-mi place în mod special dar apreciez corpolența și vechimea acestuia. Probabil e mai plăcut în mix-uri.

A classic jamaican rum, strong, full body, raw, stingy, spicy amd a little bit sweet.

My estimation is that both the 2001 and 2002 Jamaica from Plantation are from the Hampden distillery. Thus, they are similar. However, the 2001 has more "umph" - more funk, more flavor, more jazz, while the 2002 is more mellow, while retaining that Hampden marshmallowy flavor. It's been sweetened, same as most Plantations, but for Hampden, I feel that isn't a bad thing. The sugar makes it smoother and tames the bitter notes. The 2002 isn't going to replace the 2001 for me as a sipper, but it will serve as a more-available rum for cocktails where I want that Hampden funk.

A strong rum, i like the stinginess and depth this rum had. But the taste overall is too harsh for me. Maybe some ice would soften it.

This rum has a nice fresh fruity odour. However the aftertaste is a bit bitter. Not great.

Bon rhum, plus puissant que le plantation du Nicaragua 2004 que j'ai bu dernièrement. Avec des notes de banane et de pêche.

Nedosahuje kvality Trinidad a Tobago nebo Barbados a už vůbec ne 20th Anniversary, ale nabízí zajímavé chutě a pro mě je přiměřeně sladký.

Bijzondere rum uit Jamaica die een prachtige gouden kleur en eigentijdse robuste uitstraling heeft. Deze unieke 2002 vintage edition is een specialiteit van de hoogste orde, volle smaken met frisse fruitige hints maakt deze Rum uniek. De rum word met dubbel casking gerijpt wat in de wereld van rum nog niet heel bekend is, de rum heeft een rijping gehad in het Caribisch gebied en word voor het laatste jaar naar Frankrijk gebracht om het laatste jaar te rusten. Hierdoor krijgt men bijzondere smaak explosies met nieuwe en rijke invloeden. Vanille is het voornaamste in deze rum te proeven gevolgd door zacht fruit waaronder hints van banaan en andere fruitige smaken. Erg fijn en zacht met een licht zoetje op de achtergrond.
Geschiedenis Plantation rum:
Oorspronkelijk uit Azië , werd suikerriet in de Caribische geïntroduceerd door de Spaanse kolonisten tijdens Christoffel Columbus ' tweede reis in de late 15de eeuw .
De eerste schriftelijke vermelding van rum is afkomstig van Barbados in 1647 , maar het is bekend dat rum werd gemaakt op het eiland aan het begin van de 17e eeuw . In de Franse Antillen kwam de uitvinding van rum later en wordt toegeschreven aan Père Labat in 1694 , als een geneeskrachtig middel .
Van slechte kwaliteit en goedkoop te maken, was rum in eerste instantie alleen voor de plantage slaven. Duurdere cognac en sherry waren gereserveerd voor de kolonisten . Het werd ook de drank van zeelieden en piraten, maar rum begon niet te groeien tot de 18de eeuw, toen de reële vooruitgang met destillatie technieken werd gemaakt om zich te verspreiden naar Europa en Noord-Amerika .
Vandaag de dag rum is de meest geconsumeerde gedistilleerde alcohol in de wereld . Het is gemaakt op elk continent , in Azië , Latijns-Amerika , Oceanië , Europa en zelfs Afrika en het Midden-Oosten , maar de meest gewaardeerde rum komt ongetwijfeld uit het Caribisch gebied .
