Sugar:0-5 GPL. I am a fan of the St Nicholas Abbey rums. I visited the distillery in 2019 and picked up this beauty. I sampled it along side the 12 year old vintage. Similar tastes but the 12 year old is a bit smoother. Back to this rum. Oak, vanilla, some honey and spice...I always seem get a taste of wild honey in the St Nicholas rums. All perfectly balanced with a nice lingering warmth. For fans of Mount Gay or the Foursquare line of rums, treat yourself to some of the St Nicholas Abbey rums. Unfortunately, I have only seen them available in Barbados at the distillery, or through the Whiskey Exchange in the UK. If you happen to be passing through Barrie Ontario, stop in and I will pour you a taste.

While I am primarily a Vodka drinker I occasionally indulge in a glass of Balvenie Single Barrel 15 yr Scotch and Rum has never been a favorite of mine, having only used it for Rum & Coke in the past. In 2012, my wife and I visited Barbados' St. Nicholas Abbey and toured the distillery which we found extremely interesting. I also sampled their St. Nicholas Abbey 8 yr Rum, as well as their 12 yr Rum and I recall being amazed with the taste and smoothness of their product. The bottle appeal was outstanding and I ended up purchasing a bottle of 8 yr and 12 yr Rum both of which were engraved prior to final packaging.

Five years later I opened and sipped on my St. Nicholas Abbey 8 yr Rum and it immediately brought me back to my first tasting of this product as I inhaled the oakeyness and absorbed the various flavors of this Rum. I truely enjoyed this sampling but will only indulge sparingly as St. Nicholas Abbey Rum is not available for purchase in my area (Eastern Canada)

My "9" rating is based not only on the quality of his product but also on the outstanding bottle presentation.

Nothing unusual in this one. Burns your throat but only slightly. Notes of oak and vanilla. Not to my taste but lovers of juice made rums might enjoy it more.

Starts with a muted aroma hiding the treasure deep within. Taste of honey, vanilla and mild marshmallow (not cheap confectionary) with just a hint of oak appear and linger in perfect balance. This is smooth, very smooth and very easy to drink. Classic Bajan style with a shared DNA with Foursquare offerings but simpler and softer. This rum is like an old trusted friend that taps you on the shoulder and reminds you of how good life is.

Highly recommend and encourage you to try it but honestly similar enough to Foursquare that due to its difficult nature to acquire, Doorlys is cheaper and more easily available.
