Standard amber rum, infact right now its my bar's house pour. I know ive only given it a 6 but for me a 6 is a good standard score. Theres a lot better around but you could do a lot worse!
Smooth and easy sipping.
One of my top choice rums
tastes like a Jamaican rum should, big flavours but a little bit harsh
If you want a good example of the Jamaican style, this is a good way to go at about half the price (in most areas) of the 12 year.
Appleton is usually regarded with positive views. I wonder if it is really justified, while this bottle isn't bad, it isn't superb neither.
Good well around.
I am a fan of the Jamaican style of rum. The v/x is a nice intro to this style
My wife bought a bottle of the Reserve and the V/X for my birthday last year. This is very good to sip, but at a price where mixing isn't a sin either.
Nice in mixed drinks

Entry-level rum in the Appleton Estate family
"Appleton Estate V/X rum review by The Rum Howler"
One of the most ancient distilleries of them all
"Appleton Estate V/X rum review by Steve Crotty via Rum & Reviews"
Gives a fairly pungent scent of molasses, black pepper and sweet alcohol.
"A touch of vanilla and ginger. There is still a hit of molasses on the nose and some spiced black pepper. The rum is quite delicate initially. It is a hot spicy rum."

Slightly smokey and spicy aftertaste 5 out of 10
Starts as a lighter, fruity taste and ends with more of a whiskey, smokey flavour. Longer finish than most, with a spice that lingers. More dry then sweet.
