Appleton Estate Special Gold rum is made using column and pot stills. The rum is then aged in Jack Daniel’s whiskey barrels and hand-blended.
The Special Gold Appleton brand is said to have been first blended during World War II as a substitute for whiskey, which was at the time difficult to find.

As a mixer it's ok but no more than that, would I buy to keep on the shelf........ No probably not as there are better mixers out there!
Not my favourite. The rum is sharp and without any body.
Very spirit taste kind of a rum. Definitely a mixer.
That's not worts rum I've tried but without coca-cola....is just not good. If you want to try that....that's just for drinks.
Was enjoying this as a mixer in a delish tiki drink. Then the end of the night came and I decided to try this on its own. Felt the burn for sure. Will leave it for the mixer world at best.
Un ron que se encuentra en muchas partes, por lo mismo nunca falta en un bar de algún club.
Un sabor que no convence pero se comporta bien para su juventud.
I expected a bit more from this tbh. Not overly enjoyable at all
Not one of the fantastic Appleton Estate rums... I've heard this is made at the industrial Wray & Nephew distillery. This is harsh golden rum made for the lowest of mixed rum drinks. Much better than the bottom shelf swill, but still... just pony up the few extra dollars for the V/X and you'll get exponential betternesss.
This is proper rum. It is very full and flavourful.
"It is young and raw and slightly heavy on alcohol but it does still have rich banana, honey, a little treacle and of course that unmistakable and almost undescribable Jamaican funk."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
