Lately I've been consuming somewhat sweet rums. This was a complete 180 deg turn for me. A good turn no less! There is notes of tabacco, leather, slight vanilla and definitly alcohol in a good manner. With every sip I take it's a pleasure knowing I'm not paying big money for added sugar. Nice, dry and unsweetened. Some think it's overpriced. I disagree. At $60 a bottle it can hang with $100 rums and shine all the way. I give it a 9 because of how well it can hang in the C note + department. Also, I'll bet this pairs with a good cigar (preferably Cubanos) just like scotch or cognac do. Bravo H.C.

very dry rum, caramel, tobacco, good with a Cuban cigar, i don t approve that i can t find
age specification for this stuff, what kind of barrels used and so...
interesting to try along with their Havana Club 7 that have additives, just to see
the difference of a genuine and an adulterated product, same brand

The nose contains typical cuban components - wood and tobacco, accompanied by a hint of cocoa and fruity tones of peaches, apricots and orange peel. The taste copies the nose, in all the components, starts spicy and smooths out towards the end with some sweetness in it, the aftertaste is spicy and dry wood, cocoa with orange peel, which again turns sweet and leaves some sweetness on the palate. I would guess a tiny amount of sugar has been added, less than 10 gpl. Could not wait to share the thoughts, the bottle is still open, the score might change, upwards I guess.

At first, the alcohol burn slams into you, but it mellows nicely with a little ice or water. Sippable, but it mixed AMAZINGLY with iced coffee.

My first 'proper' rum that got me into rums. Tasty, but learnt that although it is good there is better at a similar price point.

Enjoyed this. At first,I felt it to be quite average but then realised it was moreish. Needs a mixer but still good neat and on ice.

Got it by chance in a Cuba Libre. It was way better than my regular Havana 7 years. Asked the bartender for a pure sample. Aromatic, slightly smoky, fine nose with vanilla, nuts, light spices. Palate a little sharp and stingy alcoholic, then fine aromatic with more nuts, toffee and fruit. Medium finish.
Really good, have to get one bottle, even if it's quite expensive for mixing.

I really like this rum, neat, on the rocks, or in a nice cocktail.

Vůně ovocná (mandarinky?), koření, dub.
Chuť ostřejší, čokoládová, dub.
Dojezd lehce štiplavý, čokoládově-dřevitě-sladký.
Doporučuji!

Typical HC profile but slightly more elegant. This is a treat on a warm day and is elevated when paired with the nations finest cigars...

Highly recommended for when a simple rum is needed.
