Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Not as burned as the 7-year Club Havana and much more sweet. Leaves a nice flavour of apple.
Pas grand chose à redire, un peu trop sur l' éthanol pour être apprécié seul. Mais de la subtilité. Parfait en Cuba libre.
A ne surtout pas melanger...mais ne pas hesiter a le boire sur glace
As good as the 7 year old Havana Club, but smoother.
The bottle is of standard good quality with the archetypical Havana Club logo. The rum is dark golden/light brown with a sharp grassy and unpleasant smell. It has a sweet caramel tohether with some fruity taste on one side, and strong ethanol on the other. This is good for mixing. More expensive than the Havana Club 3 Year, but not quite worth the extra.
Bought this by mistake the 1st time thinking it was the Reserva. Glad I did though. Nothing special here, but if you can get it on special it's a decent rum at a decent price. It's a go to rum. Now you can leave the better more expensive rums for the more special occasions.
I like to mix this rum with cola.
It is not a rum i would drink on it's own as a sipping rum.
Once you open the bottle it has a very strong smell, but when mixed with cola it smells very nice in the glass.
This is one of the greatest rums I have ever tasted. Mellow tast, beautiful oak aroma. One of the finest by far. Only available in Cuba.

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."

Mediocre mixer. Much better Havana rums out there. It's reasonable value for money though.
