Tasty, but not quite great
Powerful rum, more sour tones than f.e. zacapa 23. Much stronger mouthfeeling, darker tones here than zacapa or Don Q gran Anejo. Sweet, cane-like. Still nice for me personally.
Was wondering how exclusiva would taste if only you could somehow remove the extra sweetness...
Now I know and I can confirm it's good.
Missing the complexity as well...
It still has an intense alcohol flavour. Probably it needs some time to settle down a bit. But in this price range it is reasonable.
My favourite, together with Pampero Aniversario. Seems like venezuelan aged rums are my favourites. Santa Teresa I would use for paint removal, though.
The star product of Diplomatico. A bit of a hefty burn, you may wanna keep it in the fridge if you're not into that. Right amout of sweet, a bit simple on taste but complex enough to be a sipper. You want to have one of these to share with that friend you invited over and now wants to try some of your rums.
"Overall it is a sweet rum. There is a little spice on the palate and a tiny slither of oak. The finish has a little coffee and a touch of caramel. It is smooth and very easy to drink."
