Note: I'm a sipper. My opinion is based on sipping characteristics.

Contrary to most other reviewers, to me this was an enjoyable sipping experience. A word of warning, though. It's a bit harsh for inexperienced palates. Other than that, it *can* be had neat. Although a dash of water really helps reduce afterburn and initial shock and opens it up. I've had harder (and way more expensive) punches in my life, so this would not discourage me and most of all, it is nothing compared to what mainstream Cuban crap hits you with. Age is unclear but I'd assume something in the lines of 3-5 years. Upon opening the bottle, you are awarded with a cloud of really nice, typical, sweet aromas, totally comparable to dark rums aged 8-12 years. And considering price tag, it is undoubtedly something to keep handy or at least try.

To my surprise it tastes better than Angostura 1919 DeL Aged Blend.

Not my boat for sure, that tasted for me like a cough medicine... so far away from my favourites...

Final verdict: I will not buy it again

One of my favourites if I just want to mix it and don't want to break the bank. It's pleasantly and unusually smoky tasting, something you don't normally find in a rum in this price range. It could pass as a more expensive rum, really. Compared to a Barceló Añejo or Brugal Añejo, I'd rather have this.

Bought for 14€ in Spain.

Un ron que por precio nos permite realizar bueno cócteles, bueno para el costo.

...but a bit too vanilla flavored. Still, not bad low budget choice.

I was so hyped about testing Matusalem for first time, but on the Long Run this bottle was not all that good. Maybe I should taste the more expensive versions where Matusalem really shines :)

Aroma: Harsh, weakly expressed. Ethanol, vanilla emulsion, caramel, dried fruits.
Rum heat palate, not burn. Bitterness is hidden by a vanilla emulsion.
Aftertaste as a means to get drunk.

Un arrière gôut de sirop pour la toux, genre caramel à la vanille artificiel. Même pour le prix relativement bas, c'est mauvais.

Ik moet zeggen hij ruikt beter dan dat hij smaakt.
