A very nice blend rhum, well balanced. With floral and fruits taste (banana). It has a very long aftertaste, a dry rhum, but not too much. Very nice. It asks to wait before drinking to let Alcool flavour evaporate. It is just too expensive to have a 9

Note 9.1.

I have discovered the first rhum marketed by A1710 last year during the Spa Rhum Fest. I was released few days before the event and the organizers did manage to get one bottle for their 'Collector' Area.
Nice discovery but a little bit to exclusive and expensive for me ...

A 1710 is a new distillery located at the Habitation du Simon in Martinique. The launch of this new brand is a controversial subject in the world of rum enthusiasts. Indeed, with great reinforcement of advertising and a very luxurious packaging, A 1710 presented three blend without never having distilled the least liter of rum. This version, Nuée Ardente, is a blend of old agricultural rum & molasses from Martinique and Guadeloupe. These rum were aged in oak barrels and then assembled and aged in cognac casks.
This exercise has already proved itself in the past but the excessive price and arrogance of advertising touting "extraordinary rums" really does not pass in the community. It will be necessary to wait for the first two distilled white rum to evaluate the work of this new distillery. This does not prevent that the work of aging and assembly is very close to that of Cognac and lets presage of future good result.
I had the opportunity to taste this version at the Belgium Rum Fest in Spa. Notes of candied and dried fruits arrive in the first nose. On the palate, there are woody notes and spicy but very difficult to identify because of the complexity of this rum. A nice length in the mouth with a spicy finish worthy of a great cognac.
Being an amateur of cognac for more than 25 years and rum for 3 years, I could not resist this rum. Big mistake, I got down by the aficionados of rum who do not like the mysteries about the origins of rum and the advertising campaign of this brand.
The future will tell if I was right to bet on this distillery. Real rate : 8,5
