I expected fire, and yes, that is there, but it's also tasty.
Smells of spice and molasses, almost identical to Gosling's Black Seal 80-proof, just stronger. Surprisingly, by smell, there is nothing to give away the overproof.

Taste is brief straight. Chocolate, spice, molasses, and then numbing fire. Thinned with a little ice it pretty much tastes identical to Gosling's regular.

This is good if you're glutton for punishment straight, need to garnish with actual flames, or need something more intense when mixed in a drink or punch.

Still need to try this in the tiki drinks I bought it for (see picture), but I don't regret the effort to find it. (Btw, the Plantation Dark was just because it was cheap and I'm low on regular proof dark rum. Also picked up some fresh lemons and limes at the local grocery store.)

Molasses and chocolate without that acetone punch you get from other over-proofs. Because it tastes good, one almost forgets its 151 until you are hammered. Best as a mix. Giving it a seven because its rare to find a good over proof. Best in its class.

Only really use it for cocktails but even then there is better rum

Where is the lovely smell of Dark Seal? 151 is much more alcoholic and much less aromatic, in drinks it's just a % filler (trying it solo is unpleasant, I completely don't understand how some people wrote it is good sipper). Avoid it and buy 40 % version.

The 151's are getting a bit hard to find; just ran into this in NH. A delicious twist on the original Goslings Black Rum that is drier and yet carries the deep rum flavours. A huge step beyond the Bacardi 151 (bad rum+lighter fluid). Can't wait to try this in any number of tiki drinks!!

I am a fan of Goslings Black Seal 80 proof, so I decided to go one step further and try my first overproof. Expectations: I thought that spirit of that content of alcohol would burn my insides immediately, so imagine my surprise after first sip when not only it did not melt my stomach, but also I could taste very pleasant flavours on the palate (even though it's 75,5%!). Definitely good choice, this rum turned my Dark'n'Stormy truly into a stormy cocktail.

After enjoying the 'regular' version of this dark rum I thought I'd try this 151 version. It's nice but not quite as smooth as some other 151's I've sampled.

Tasted off of Buck’s shelf. Pours dark gold. Overpowering alcohol aroma. Works as a floater. Almonds and fire.

Intense molasses on the nose, you don’t even realize it’s 150 Proof, can easily knock you out cold, i use it mainly to top off tiki cocktails

Bivaly erős. Édes. Alkoholos. Tisztán csak ha kemény vagy.
