I always love FdC 7 year, even more than the 12 year. Florals and oak. A little honey. Golden amber pour. A touch of tangerine on the finish.
I fell in love with this for Cuba Libres while in Mexico and it continues to a very good option to utilize as a mixer when you don't want to just go with a white rum.
A bit harsh for sipping, but makes a decent cocktail.
This rum smells and tastes a lot like alcohol, but I still like it, it's good for Cuba Libres.

I was really impressed by the flavor of this rum, not too sweet by solid vanilla and caramel notes. It received three "yum"s and a doodled heart as well as a circled YES. I sampled neat and then as a Daiquiri, both forms were excellent.
Rum ze sekce, pijeme u ohně s kamarády v lese, mě na něm vadí něco co bych nazval mýdlo.
On the nose:
Slight alcohol, sweetness, and coconut.
Taste:
Smooth with hints of vanilla, caramel, roasted nuts, and coconut and a soothing alcohol finish.
Summary:
Good all-around rum. Great for more premium drinks or cocktails.
Smells rich yet superficial or watered down. Taste is forgettable with a strong tinge of alcohol that is a little off putting when drinking neat. Unfortunately, it’s not much tastier mixed with Coke and lime. I could have sworn the quality was better say 5+ years ago…tastes cheap (even for the price point) or my tastes have changed.

It smells reasonably “boozy”. You still get notes of good oak ageing.
"The finish is overall quite bitter almost like dark chocolate."

This rum worked well in all kind of cocktails, may it be freshly pressed juice or low budget sodas. But it changed radically over time. The more air that came in to the bottle, the tastier it got. This is true for many spirits, but i have never tasted such a big change as with this bottle. It transformed from "ok" at the first three cocktails, to "perfect" at the last three. But all through this journey it was priceworthy (with being "reasonably priced" at first and at the finish being "a bargain"). Maybe this will be my "old faithful" in the bar cabinet in the future?
