Similar to cognac...pungente and surprisingly pepperish

As stated in the title, decent rum, with definite wood flavors. Not the best in its category though.

I’ve been sipping on this bottle for years. Its better every time I open it. So smooth. Wonderful rich colour. Never lets me down.

I was lucky to get this one.
I think this is great rum. Very smooth and deep taste.
It's closer to old Flor de Cana and Mombacho than the current Flor de Cana.

Close to perfect. Medium dark colour. Light nose but a hint of molasses. Full body with no burn. Again a light molasses flavour with a bit of caramel. No strong spices. An excellent sipper.

Hiding away in its purple pouch was this gem of a rum that I tried at the famous Rum Bar in the Whitsunday Isles in North Queensland recently..
What a treat.. unlike any rum I have ever tasted. Straw like in colour this smells and tastes of apples and pears as mentioned in another rating.. very unusual.
Its quite dry as all FDC rums are , no added sugars etc ? Tastes naturally sweet to me with a wonderful pastry note flowing through it.. almost like a fine cognac or brandy. A 15 year old commemorative rum in a beautiful bottle.. if you find this rare gem then buy it. I simply loved it. I have an unopened bottle of the 25 at home and if its anywhere as good as this im in for a treat in the future !

este ron de suave sabor y con notas dulces me hizo recordar lo hermosa que es la vida de cuerpo aterciopelado uno de los grandes de mi cava

its content, however, leaves a little more to be desired. Flor de cana produces fine rums so the expectations were quite high and perhaps that was the reason why I was a bit disappointed. Still a very fine rum albeit a bit overpriced (perhaps because of the very nice looking bottle).

Disclaimer: I am not a scotch drinker.
I saved this rum for several years, returning from Roatan with it in my travel bag after an outstanding dive trip. This is where (in 2010) I was first introduced to the Flor de Cana brand, truly enjoying the 12 yr with the shop owner. I was quite excited to have this limited edition bottle and 21 yr blended rum, but alas was a little disappointed in the tasting. Lighter in body colour than the 12, there are strong barrel notes with definite peat and straw characters. Found the alcohol levels higher than others as well. Now that its' been opened, but only slightly tasted, I'll be looking for other comments from local rum associates.
The limited bottle and pouch (throw back to Crown sacks) are a nice piece to the collection.
