Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

I like mixing and sipping the 18 so I was looking forward to trying this. The nose is a bit sharp and as a sipper there is to much bite. As a mixer it is nice with ginger ale, and citrus cutting the edge. With coke it carries well but prefer the citrus, bringing about the individual tastes in the rum. Overall this is nice but no depth for a mid-prices rum, will not be stocking once I use this up.
First time I tried it it was strange taste to something spicy, which was a bit weird. I have tried after and I got a bit used to it, but I prefer other rums for the same price range.
My first experience with flor was the 18 year, so I'm a little biased in my rating. Carries the same smoothness I know flor de cana for, however it lacks the fruity tones found in the longer aged bottles. Simple vanilla and banana lightly grace the tongue before washing to a dark chocolate throat with a burn.
This is very nice rum, but... If you would like more taste, more aroma, more everything, you should then consider 18-Years old Flor de Cana.
Still not bad at all...
Seemed dominated by alcohol, could have been good based on underlying flavours - but ultimately disappointing for the money...
Smells pure alcohol, first taste my tongue burned. Thereafter tried with ice, drinkable but differcult to notice all flavors. After i tried with Coke and it was okey. So i recommend it as mixer.
It is an acceptable sipping rum although not first rate. Enjoyable but hasn't got the depth of some higher quality rums.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
