I'm sure there's a market for this but I found the vanilla to be overpowering. Quite a bitter rum
It seems to have a fairly young rum as its base because this is actually quite harsh. That's not to say it has a kick, like say RedLeg. Kicks are a good thing in my book, but harshness isn't.
The main smell I got from this was harsh spirit and slightly off, over-ripe fruit. The flavours are over-ripe banana, pineapple and something which seems a bit like star fruit. There is also a touch of vanilla, but not much. It doesn't leave a pleasant aftertaste either.
I'd say it was a bit of a cheap spiced rum - I enjoy a good one, but this isn't one of them.
This is flavourful and has decent aftertaste ... It would be amazing to the correct persons pallet which isn't mine ... I'm a dry rum fan ...
This was a rushed purchase recommended by the staff in an airport duty free shop who said it was very popular. Me and my mate Chris were really excited to be tasting a new rum both ways (on the rocks, and with coke) but were sorely disappointed. Unanimously agreed that it is absolutely disgusting, tastes sickly sweet with far too much caramel and vanilla, overpowering any other spices or flavours that the rum might otherwise have. I very gladly gave away the whole bottle to someone who seemed to like it.
I first came across this during a rum tasting at the distillery in the Seychelles.
Funnily enough the cheapest of the rums was the most delicious. Very strong vanilla aromas while you can sip Takamaka Spiced it is absolute perfection when mixed with Cola.
A rum I will not soon forget.
In nose you can notice bubble gum, lemonade, some flowers. Taste: no any wood, sugar, vanilla and chemical. No any afterburn. Very simple and, maybe, can be used as a mixer.
I got this as a gift, Very light syrupy taste, there’s better out there
I like this rum nice and gentle with a spice to warm you
The Takamaka Spiced is a pretty young rum, distilled from molasses. Nosing reveals nice mild notes of vanilla with some cherry marmalade in the distance. Palate adds some spicy notes (what a surprise given its name) but this is kept to a pleasant level which still leaves enough room for the vanilla and cherry marmalade notes to be present. Same notes define the finish. Overall a mild rum with a good price-value ratio. Also good for mixing purposes.
Vůně sladší exotické ovoce. Chuť už tolik sladká není. Primární chuť je exotické ovoce s vanilkou. Postupem času se ovoce vytrácí a do popředí se dostává vanilka.
