There is some "funk" smell - reminds me of honey and pineapple - taste is smooth initially with pepper bite at the end, some funk - not sure I want it as a sipper - have used in cocktails and is good there. Part of a split base in a mai tai worked really well.

hard to ignore the value this bottle brings to the bar. A perfectly acceptable sipping rum but mixes well. The Appleton name brings a confidence this rum delivers on many levels. Bottle doesn't jump out like Flor de Cana which I would say has very similar character and attributes. Hard to resist on sale but there are lots of other similar rated rums out there to discover once you have tried this.

I guess I'm just not a fan of the Jamaican style of rums. I will never stop trying something new if they get reasonable reviews and ratings, but I have had many better.

I found it to be a little harsh on its own, as others have said it is fine with a little mix.
To the nose I was getting molasses which I was happy with, but the finish was weird. Maybe it would be better mixed.
Wife and I honeymooned in Jamaica so I thought I’d snag i nice bottle to bring back. Definitely strong when compared to others. Very earthy warm taste.

Overall not a bad rum. This one I find balances right on the fence of a “with cola” and “straight up” although it boasts more flavor than your original Appleton’s, I find it ever so lacking the next level of flavor and smoothness I need to sip a rum straight up. Then again, straight from Jamaica as a gift, only it’s empty bottle remains...

Perfect for those times you want a rum with a little punch but you're not ready for something stronger. Also good for newbies who wants to approach Jamaican rums. If you like a good punch in the throat and had your share of experience with Jamaican rums avoid this one, save your money for something better.

Surprisingly spicy on the tongue. Strong notes of black pepper and oaked heat.
"Has a lovely smooth entry which quickly heats up. The initial notes of pineapple and dark almost to ripe banana give way to spicy heat. The flavours linger and coat the taste buds with hot spice."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: Jamajka
Aroma: Koření, kakao, troška medu, celkově ale dost uzavřená vůně. Mléčná čokoláda, mírná větrovost. (81 b)
Chuť: Velmi jemně nasládlá chuť, pak ale vykoukne hořčinka, naštěstí umírněně. Kůže, dřevo, dub, taniny. (81 b)
Body: 81/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnán s kamarádem na naší zářijové akci. Nic moc.
