This is a rougher type of rum from Barbados from the famous Foursquare distillery at 40% strength. The rum was aged for 12 years in oak bourbon barrels.
Bottle: Classic whiskey shape
Colour: Dark Amber
Nose: Intense and very pleasantly sweetish. Aromas of caramel, baked apples with lemon, vanilla, spices (cloves, pepper) and later oak wood wafted from the glass.
Taste: Dry and harsh at first, then mellowing on the palate. After sipping, I smelled bitter cocoa, wood and pepper. The bitterness is noticeable, but surprisingly not unpleasant.
Finish: Medium to long.
Summary: The product is more suitable for lovers of drier rums. I guess my earlier preference for sweeter types is starting to change, but I really enjoyed this rum. The main characteristics are: sweet aroma, dry and smooth taste.
Overall rating: 8.5 out of 10
Preisleistung TOP - Ein wirklich leckerer Rum / mit einer gewissen Süße und runden Geschmack.
Vůně: Alkohol a vanilka přeráží koření, pečené ovoce.
Chuť: Ostrá, vanilka, dub, pepř, něco hořké, (tabák)?
Dochuť: Sladká, vanilka, dub.
This is a decent purchase. Frankly, it has not got the depth of flavour of the 18. I’d buy and drink the18 every time, but this is a good rum.
Only tried a miniature bottle, but forgettable is the word that springs to mind. Tried a few of these Canary rums, this was the least impressive.
It's not a top-shelf rum by any means. The taste is flat, straightforward, simple. No surprising finish, no change of taste. On the other hand, it's quite good. I enjoyed it.
taste like a whisky :-) not so sweet as I can read in comments (but my bottle doesn't look the same also...)
Very nice sweet rum, with caramel, orange on nose, not too strong alcohol and quite long aftertaste.
Rum caramel , very sweet on the nos of vanilla and oak
Sweet chocolate and oak , drinks like a very light Cuban style rum which linked to spainish style ...
