My son offered me a glass of this probably quite short aged golden colored rum from the Hampden Estate in Jamaica.
The nose having clear similarities with other Hampden rums with higher ABV.
It’s funky and greedy with exotic fruits, plums and cherries recognizable.
In mouth and palate it’s rather soft, light and weak probably depending on the low ABV. Flavors of fruits and bananas is recognizable.
The finish is medium long.
Overall a rum with a rather typical Jamaican funky nose, but very soft and light at the palate.

nothing really great.....but not too bad one .....
This is young jamaican pot still rum.
Hits you with a load of esters and brine, smoke, overripe citrus, fresh grassiness, unripe banana. Not much molasses flavor, as in Myers or Smith&Cross.
Finishes dry and with some alcoholic kick.
Has caramel colour but i dont mind.
Overall is quite drinkable on its own if you are into high ester light jamaicans.
As a mixer, really kicks ass, i recommend making planters punch or triumvirate punch(smugglers cove) with this.
Brings really nice bright punching esters, fruity citrusy flavours and delicious brinyness to your tiki cocktails.
It's a Jamaican rum of the typical funky Wedderburn style. It's only very lightly aged, if at all, but nonetheless very aromatic. But as you can imagine, the colour must be artificial. Hampden argued that consumers expect a certain golden colour for this type of aromatic rum, so it's meant to be a sign meaning "I'm aromatic!". Of course that is unnecessary for the true connoisseur. What I somewhat disliked about this rum, that is, why I didn't really find it that wonderful, was a dry, almost Scotch whisky-like nuance.
Good, but it didn’t become my favorite. You have to leave it a lot in the glass and after that its aromas will open, but unfortunately it is a bit thin and harsh to my taste. I can recommend it for cocktails and long drinks.
Tento rum je pre mňa príjemným prekvapením. Nečakal som nič a dostal som peknú vôňu, chuť a skvelý pocit. Rum za 15eur,kde rozoznáte Hampden, ovocie, len v lahkej forme.
Belanglos. Kaum Nase. Geschmack weich, langweilig, kein Profil.
5his was released when Hampden was trying to rebuild the distillery image alongside the rum fire ...as a rum on its own its delicious young funk rum but is a poor representative of this distillery.
Notes of oak , chocolate and funk
Probably the only Hampden rum u wouldn't buy again.
Rich and fruity like black bananas with a little treacle and pungent funky notes of Pineapple, apple and molasses.
"It is a fairly young rum and it is quite rough and ready."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Thought it is probably not intended to be a sipping rum it is very drinkable and shows the usual flavours of the Hampden distillery, in a lighter style than usual of course. No doubt it will be an interesting mixer but if it is a good occasion to try the Jamaican style by the way.
