Either the bartender forgot to actually pour any rum in the glass, or this is the mildest rum I've ever drank. If it's the former, apologies to English Harbour. Not bad at all but just no discernible flavors - a little oak. Probably should have tried straight instead of with soda and on the rocks. Would try again and will amend my score if deserved.

I had the opportunity to taste this rum before but didn't until my third visit to Antigua. I thought a 5 years old rum was good only for mixing. Well, it's also good to sip straight. It is light, tasty and very aromatic. It is inexpensive so I keep my best bottles for special occasions. Honestly, it deserves a place on my shelf. Definitely a good rhum.

Fik denne til en romsmagning, efter et bombardement af div. smage fra andre rom, så den kom nok ikke til sin ret. Håber den overrasker til næste smagning, hvor den skal i glasset som den første

When I first purchased this rum my expectations were not high. I don't know why but I imagined the run down harbor I had once visited years ago after sailboat racing. I know from articles that it is a much redone place, but the impressions lingered. I was happily wrong.

Bottle: A fantastic old looking green bottle with a label to say that this is a rum from an old and decaying place. It looks great on the shelf. The unassuming print matches the flavor inside.
Color: A light brown.
Bottle Aroma: Rum! With hints of vanilla and caramel, even a touch of grassiness you have to look for.
Glass Aroma: Unfortunately this rum fades away in the glass. Again my not using cognac glasses has an impact here but I don't feel that rum should be treated like cognac because it is so much more.
Taste: Rum, first and foremost with heat that somehow hits, dissipates as your tongue coats with oils, then comes back as those oils go away, the heat following to the throat. This is a surprising rum in that it is light but complex, there are many flavors hiding inside.

I'm betting this rum is produced with ease and not quite the effort of other rums of this quality. Truth in advertising is rarely valued but it is what you get with EH5. It says it is a light, flavorful rum and that it is. And best of all, the cost is right. I'd mix or drink straight, knowing that others would enjoy the flavor. I am betting that this is a hangover prone spirit, drink in moderation.

I bought this bottle in special price. At first time I thought 5 years are few, but I wrong ! Rum is good, very good; for me is very similar to "Cruzan Single Barrel". Excellent price/quality ratio

English Harbour 5 Y.O. is een heerlijke gouden Rum die 5 jaar heeft gerijpt
in kleine eikenhouten vaten. Aroma's van gedroogd fruit, honing en een hint
van vanille. Kruidig met een lichte bite.

Veel rum voor weinig geld

Much appreciated from other reviewers but strangely lacking any flavour.

Average as a mixer and a sipper. A well balanced rum which should have been so much better. Lacking rummy-ness!
