I really like this rum, despite the whiskey sounding name. Very tasty, and smooth
I've heard that this rum tastes a lot like rum would've back in the pirate days. I absolutely love this rum. Most rums are a blend of different rums from different countries around the caribbean (Sailor Jerry, Captain Morgan etc.) but this rum is just one basic rum, which sounds kinda boring but it's fantastic. It's smooth and very clean tasting. It goes well in almost any mixed drink (notably rum&cola) and it tastes great by itself and on the rocks! Definitely my go-to for occasional drinks!
Love this rum. Not easy to get hold of all the time though. Always drink over ice, sometimes with a small piece of lime as it is quite sweet.
Love this rum for the cost. Neighbor bought me a bottle to try and I loved it. Very mellow and smooth. Enjoy with soda and you can't go wrong for the price.
My favorite Antigua rum. A wonderful dark and full flavoured rum that bodes well alone or with cola.
This goes well in mixed drinks, and is good to sip as well.
This is my favorite ''cheap rum''. Good on it's own or mixed with water and a splash of cola.
The ten-year rum from English Harbour seemed more dry than this one. Its aroma is quite pleasant. No harsh alcohol astringency. A beautiful medium amber color. A sweet flavor with molasses and vanilla taste and just a hint of toffee. A rather nice warmth rather than a harsh burn. A bit thin in consistency. Definitely tingles the tongue. Quite good stuff. Works as a sipper as well as a mixer. A very good versatile rum. Quite nice if you can find it.
$32 CAD I purchased this one on recommendations for a solid rum with a good price. Perhaps due to itโs accessibility and frequently large amount of bottles in the store, I never paid much attention to the English Harbour 5 year. I knew it was only a matter of time before I gave it a try though.
When you get the bottle on itโs own, itโs actually quite nice aesthetically. I really like the clean shape and subtle palm trees on the label.
The rum is very easy on the nose with lots of dried fruit and sweetness. Light colour.
Nice clean rum flavour. Thereโs a little bit of sweetness, some oak, but just solid rum flavour. Minimal heat. Finish is quite long and very enjoyable. Itโs on the drier side but I still very much enjoy it.
All together, this rum delivers exactly as you think it would. From label, to colour, to taste; English Harbour 5 year knows what it is and follows through on that promise. Great rum.
The nose is sweet molasses, a little orange.
"When sipped like this you taste molasses and toffee. The oakiness of the rum also comes through giving a slightly bitter taste."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

There is burnt caramel, the smell of toasted coconut, a little vanilla, oak, a smokey edge and a slight fruitiness to the aroma. For me the taste is true to the aroma. It also has a lovely smokey finish with apricots and peaches. A nice bit of fire in its belly too.....and who doesn't like a kick in the ribs.
