What a great find in a little liquor store in Poughkeepsie NY. After fully enjoying both 21 and Joy 25 in the past I thought how much better could this be, and it blows me away. First scent you know this is something special, no water drops or ice necessary bottled at a comfortable 45%. Lots of lingering depth very well aged with nice wood tones that stay with you for 10 minutes or more. Very hard to put down so I better put it on the top shelf next to Joy.
I still have a little of this left. It was definitely pretty outstanding back when first released. Since then it could probably be argued that quite a few other makers have made special editions that rival the 30 year.
Very much enjoyed this rum. Even though I gave it an 8 it was only diminished by the company it was tasted with (Appleton 50, Joy, Ruby, and more). Tasting alone would probably gained a half point higher. Was better than expected; I was waiting for an oaken leg kick to the face, but it was a lot softer. Originally purchased at first release at a somewhat reasonable price; so I bought a few for later......but now the price has surpassed the stratosphere and on the verge of being so rare that it's almost unobtanium.

Lots of good spices and slight hogo with a definite aged profile. Simply a great rum.
