Jamaica | Aged

Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.

Once, a person of the staff of appleton told me: "Jamaicans say: white people drink black rum, black people drink white rum".
I don't know if it will be so, but this black rum is very very fine, smooth, warm, flavoured. But what is surprising, is its persistent taste even after half an hour.

Appleton 21 has an excellent profile for the nose. It outshines rums that I mark higher in this category. You may particularly like it if you enjoy your rums on the drier side. It reminds me of Kirk and Sweeney 23yr. (with exception the K&S price point which is fantastic). Not my favorite but a very good rum.

Orange, vanilla and coffee notes. Sugary sweet finish.

A close friend gifted me this bottle, very good rum. Wouldn't mind having it again but the price makes it best left for the rare special occasion.

After being introduced to Appletons by a friend I was hooked. We went to the home of Appletons in Jamaica and bought the 21 year old and it really didn't disappoint, one of the smoothest rums I have tasted. Worth every penny!

I really like their strategy of marking - 21 means at least 21 yo rums used. No SOLERA no, Zacapa like 23yo meaning the oldest one is maybe 23yo....

After tasting of Appleton 12yo, which I really liked, I was expecting the 21yo to be super rum, with no added sugar and mature taste, which will blow my mind...Unfortunately it is not as excellent as expected, definitely not bad, but with its price tag...

Did like a lot. This is one of my favourites -so far. Appleton 21 is not as sweet as you would expect based on the history and age. Some might say that it should actually be sweater. I find this product to be well balanced Rum which is worth of purchasing every time when possible.
I used to rate this to 9 but lately after tasting it I do have to drop it to 8
