I was pleasantly surprised with this 2yo. Not that refined, raisin and caramel taste. I like it with coke.
Paid β¬8.70 for 70cl, I think this is the best tasting cheap rum i have tried so far.
Because of the low price I would give a 9/10 but overall...
6.5/10

You've had the El Dorado 5? 8? 12? 15? 21? Well, this is El Dorado 2. Yep, 2 years old, and pretty raw. There's some molasses and toffee, but the mouth feel is really thin and watery, and the alcohol is distracting. It's very inexpensive, as it should be. I drink it neat and not often, but I can imagine it doing okay in mixed drinks. For a few dollars more you can get ED 8 and live a happier life.

My every day mixing rum. Gose well with any recipe, anytime. El dorado is always a sure shot. I give it an extra point because of the price.
But no more. Drink straight if you are out of anything else

A deep mahogany colour in a simple looking bottle has a strong molasses nose. The flavour is strong with raisins, caramel, smoke and molasses. There is only a mild burn for a two year rum but it is a lighter ABV. Can be sipped but makes a good mixed drink with strong flavour. A friend picked this up in Quebec for only $24.
Quite arsh, but Nice overall. Ok on Nice, def good on mixed cocktails

Sweet molasses with that el dorado oak flavour. This impressive showing has earned a place on my bottom shelf for life. Easily drinkable and exceptionally inexpensive. Im beginning to wonder why I bought bacardi for years as a mixer, or why I bought the more expensive el dorado vintages. Excellent value!

Arrgh, you heard correct! I says this rum be far too young to enjoy! She smells sweet and all, with fine bits of caramel, but that be where the fascination ends. She be tarted up with color that not be natural and a bizarre flavor that reeks of burned raisins, chocolate, and dead fish at low tide. Aye, there be a bit of burn, and that be fine for ANY alcohol, but not this one, maties! Not for sippin', not for anythin' but cleanin' sword wounds. There be so many rums from El Dorado that be truly amazing. What son of biscuit eater made the call to put THIS in a bottle?
Tβs big, cloyingly sickly sweet with huge wafts of sweet young alcohol and caramel.
"It burns, its overpoweringly sweet then overtly bitter very quickly."

I use this in part in every rum based mixed drink I make (Mai Tais, Zombies, rum swizzles, Gun Club punch, Navy Grog, Siboney, Jet Pilot). It is reasonably priced and provides the Guyana smoke essence. This rum adds a unique taste in all mixed rum tiki cocktails. It is a staple. I use it daily in mixed tiki cocktails!
