El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

This rum is slightly different from the 12 Year old, but it does not add much other than some more imparted oak. For the difference in price ~$20 more for the 15 year old, it is not worth it. The 21 Year old is a lot pricier, but a great rum.
To be fair I only had a 3cl sample bottle of this. I took a long time over it but from first opening to final sip there weren't many changes for me. I found the nose and taste weaker than the 12, with a prominent burn I wasn't really expecting. It is as others say a different rum to the 12, and also the 21. There's a link between the 12 and 21 but would put the 15 in a separate category.
El Dorado 12 is all you need, I wouldn't spend any more on the 15 or 21(again)
Disappointed.
Its a strong Rum suited for Whiskey-Drinker. Not my cup of tea, as I like more sweet Rums.
Much better option than their 12 year this is worth the money for a nice glass neat or on a single cube.
I really had big expectations for this. Thats why i probably got dissapionted. Compared to the price it do not taste as i thought. Very strong taste, thats all. I will not recomand this one
This is a hard review for me.
On the one hand I liked the flavor of this rum. It was truly in line with the Cuban Rums I so enjoy. However, the thickness of this rum on the palette was off putting to me.
I found myself for the first time thinking "this would be nice as a dessert topping on vanilla ice cream"....yikes.
The 12 year old El Dorado is much nicer as a rum to my tastes.
Certainly an interesting, complex rum, not suited for beginners. Below spicey alc is a decent sweetness combined with chocolate, caramel, toffee aromas. I‘d prefer the 12years version.
...mh...gee, what is that awful smell...unfortunately it did not go away even after letting it breathe got about half an hour and longer...
Luckily it did taste better than it smelled...but compared to the 12 year old it still looses.
One big surprise was that even though from the same family it was so different...like black and white...
In the same price range I highly recommend the Plantation 20th Anniversary or the Centenario 20!
I will not buy another bottle of this one, rather the 12 year younger brother.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Mon palais n'est peut-être pas encore assez développé ou encore est-il brûlé pas mes années à boire n'importe quoi. Le El Dorado 15 est bon ne vous méprenez pas mais le goût ne justifie pas la différence prix avec le ED 12.
