El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

YU
had this rum recently

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

To me it has a one note type taste. I like to add it to TIKI drinks to add richness. 1 oz of this with other rums.

I haven’t tried so many rums but so far I prefer the British style and this rum amplifies my taste so far. I can taste orange and plums but also some pepper.

This was a nice surprise, although I initially liked it less than I would have otherwise - it was the 6th rum I tried in one sitting. It was sweet and somewhat funky on the nose. This has also translated into the taste - a pleasently sweet sipper with some funk to it. Quite interesting and memorable.

I have to agree with others - for this style of rum, it's hard to beat this for quality or value. If I had to choose only 1 rum to drink all year, it would probably be Centenario 25 - but if I'm paying, it would be this.

Exceptional flavour, however I found the 12 yo more convincing.

Has a vanilla and woody scent and taste.

Nice sipper but not really my thing

the big brother of the 12Y, more refined with a touch of spiciness

English type of Rum, warmy, spicy cinammon, some Orange peels, dark fruits, leathery, dark chocolate, but a bit lack of smoothiness and roundedness. Otherwise everyday sipper. Nice, but not top.
Nose 7, a bit repressed, on palate 7,5, it opens, but it is more agressive than 12 y which is more elegant, 7,5 on finish.

...........................................................................................................................................

EN: a sweet rum with a taste like a caramel and vanilla fruit salad but with a slightly higher alcohol concentration compared to the 12-year-old to counterbalance the sweetness. some spices and an aftertaste of burnt sugar.

apart from the higher alcohol, I don't find any qualities above the 12 year old that I prefer

Аромат - коричневий цукор, легкий дим, трохи тропічного ананасу.
Смак - тросниковий цукор, персик, абрикос.
Фініш - солодкий, фруктовий, трохи дубу.
