A delayed burn that lasts and lasts, syrupy on the tongue makes me want to eat pancakes. Starts sweet and then goes to peppery burn
Not much aroma on this one, just a bit of booziness but not in a bad way. Flavour a little subdued too, syrup, slight alcohol burn, I kinda like it but for the price there's much better (including other el dorado releases)
The El Dorado Enmore 1993 is a vintage rum of the closed Enmore Distillery from Guyana and was distilled in the famous Wooden Coffee Style. Then the rum was allowed to store for 22 years in Ex Bourbon barrels. In 2015, it was bottled with 56.5% alcohol in barrel strength without additives. The handcrafted rum is strictly limited.
The rum needs some time in the glass. Heavy barrel notes come up. Wood, smoke and a heavy sweetness. Tropical fermented fruits. Vanilla, too. The rum is very appealing but opens slowly. On the palate you get the heavy barrel notes again. Caramel and roasted vanilla. I get raisins and dried tropical fruits. Also orange and some liquorice. Dark chocolate as well as oak and bitter fabrics. The alcohol is very well integrated, but should not be forgotten while drinking. He can kick. It is all super complex. The finish is characterized by the long storage and only in the Aftertaste it is a little too weak for the age and the price tag.
The El Dorado Enmore 1993 is a heavy rum that shows it's long time in the barrel. Definitely the best El Dorado I've drunk. But also difficult to compare with the normal bottlings. If you like Guyana Rum, this is the place to be. But there are cheaper ones that also offer an intense Guyana taste. Despite everything, the Enmore Rum is something special and therefore somehow worth its money. For El Dorado fans definitely a must have.
Today I got my hands on a legendary Enmore style rum. I was looking forward to taste it.
Let's see if it can meet my expectations. My bottle is fresh btw. I'm going to do a tasting again in some weeks. This rum needs at least 45min in the glas. When you get the flowers in the nose, it's ready.
The nose is deep, woody, dark with sweet notes and dry fruits like raisins and figs. From the wood profile you can say that it's from the woody EHP still. It's like a walnut tree with iodine from the smell.
As the rum gets warmer I get more honey and orange.
A good nose, also complex.
The taste starts sweet with a lot of dry fruits (raisins, oranges), followed by tannins and wood. It gets warm very fast in the mouth. I can't hold it back to enjoy the start for a longer time. The rum is viscous and warm in the mouth.
In the middle it get's more heavy with molasses and bitter notes of tannins, raisins are still there. The finish is spicy and dry with heavy notes, dry fruits and wood, iodine again. The aftertaste is dark with molasses, burned sugar, some mint and raisins. It reminds me again of ElDorado12 aftertaste.
Conclusion: This rum is old and complex. But the wood influence is too high. Maybe the 22 years of aging is too much. Therefore 88 points rating is appropriate.
Nose: grasy notes, raisins, molasses, caramel, dry fruits (plums), burned sugar and some honey, mushrooms, wood, iodine and earth
Taste: dry fruits (raisins, plum, orange), tannins, wood, honey, caramel
Middle: burned sugar, wood with tannins, spice, raisins, molasses
Finish: spice, molasses, dry mouth feel, wood with tannins, burned sugar, wood
Aftertaste: caramel, raisins, some ripe banana
Sweetness: 2.5/5
Fruits: 2.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 3/5
Complexity: 3.5/5
Value (156€): 2.5/5
Great rum, so full of flavor, just like the other two in the same series. This is how El Dorado should be, without added sugar and high strength punch!
I was impressed with how smooth this one is considering it is almost 60% and with no burn on the throat. It has a nice sweet and natural taste. When you first have it in your mouth, the flavour is incredible and this would easily be a higher rating if it had a more interesting finish. Even still though, this is a very nice rum overall and i would consider getting a bottle but it is very expensive.

It’s very sweet smelling.
"It offers a very rich and fruity mouthful. There is also a hit of slightly bitter/sweet coffee beans. The finish a medium length offering quite a lot of spicy oak."

Výtečný 10 out of 10
