I really like El Dorado rums, I had the 5 years, the 12, the 15 and the 21. I also tried the spiced rum and the original dark, all of them I enjoyed, and the 21 years being my favorite and perhaps, the third best rums I experienced. My expectations were high for the 8 years, but unfortunately, it did not do it for me. I prefer the 5 years.
Not to say it is a bad rum, but there is better 8 years aged rums out there.

a very big difference with the 12-year-old but still excellent rum at a great price

Lambs Amber is my usual base mixing rum for rum and soda drinks. Most of my friends who are Cuba Libre drinkers are also Lambs Amber fans. Not being a fan of this drink myself I can't compare how E.D. 8 enhances the drink. I do however like it in a nice rum cocktail. For the price this is certainly a step up from a Lambs or Captain Morgan.

Makes a nice rum and coke. Easy to drink with a sweet caramel flavour. Not really any other flavours that really stand out, but easy to drink. Wouldn't drink this as a sipper, but good mixer.

Maybe it would not be a bad rum, if I had not tested El Dorado 12.

Hints of "Bananas Foster"...bananas, caramel and butterscotch.

A friend that doesn't really have much experience buying "fancy" rum, bought this as a holiday gift. I opened it up one night planning on making drinks with it, as a mixer...however after a little bit of a taste, I went for rocks and was pleasantly surprised.

Velice dobry rum s bajecnym pomerem cena/vykon.

This stuff is delicious in the rocks however it really comes into its own when mixed, huge depth of flavour and another classic from eldorado

A bit too much heat for my liking. Has sweetness but it hides behind the spiciness. This one is much better with an ice cube IMO. In this price range i would go with plantation 5..
