Good for either, kinda gets lost in the shuffle, though. Not as good for sipping as the 12, comparable in a mixed drink to the 5, what is it's role again?

Hard to get this out here in the San Francisco area, so I horde it when it shows up at my favorite shop (kudos to SF Wine Trading Company in Taraval for special ordering it). It's only a few bucks more than ED5 (here in the US anyway) and a truly superb rum! As far as I'm concerned it renders ED12 completely moot. A bit more firey, young, and aggressive than ED15, and not as suave as EHP. But a fine choice for daily rum goodness. And, you can throw it in a mixed cocktail without feeling too guilty - which of course you'd never do with ED12+

Great sipper, neat or on the rocks. Different enough from 12 that you don't mind having both in the house at the same time. As always with ED, very cheap and a great value.

This is one of the best "cheap" rums around, smooth with some heat, nice colour and smell, well worth having on the shelf...

A beautifull rum, hugh step from the 5yrs old too light for me. I like the structure and the balance...

A every day rum...

A bit of a bite at the first sip, but very smooth finish. Has a whiskey vibe to it, likely due to the 8 year cask aging. I was initially surprised to see that it is made in Guyana, as you don't normally associate Guyana with rum. Would definitely recommend this either on the rocks.

Although this one can be sipped, I would recommend it for drinks. But you get quite a good rum compared to the price.

I find this rum to stand in between the 5 yo and the 12 yo. The 15g/L added sugar takes down my rating.

For the price excellent I enjoyed it on the rocks as a sipper and with coke.... For a little extra cash though might as well man up and buy the 12

Entry level sipper and superb in a rum cocktail. Beats all the other rums in this bracket
