More abv in nose at start then true Diplomatico. More aggresive abvish first sip. Less body then real Diplomatico and less flavor. Still develops nice vanilla but I prefer true Dippomatico reserva exclusiva...
Stylish bottle contains golden brown liquid with moderate thickness.
Sweet aroma with hints of molasses and brown sugar, caramel and milk, very similar to creme brulee, which is continued by fruits like banana and orange. Sweet beginning is accompanied by delicate woody and smoky notes. The smell is absolutely free from any alcoholic hints. After around 20 minutes the aroma contains hints of cane (but not fermented like in the case of agricole).
Sugary and spicy first sip with some nutmeg taste and dried fruits. Seems water-dilluted but I can feel some milky notes followed by chocolate with thick sugary sweetness. At some point the initial mouth sensation gets covered by woody finish and the aftertaste is composed of chocolate, wood and leather.
It's a sweet one, not too complex but not bad after all.
I would like to expect more for this price but it's not a bad rum.
Scent is forcefully smoky and oldish. Taste has an slightly upfront sweetnes which gets stronger to the end), but also some liquerish/boozy notes in the middle, strong herbal flavour towards the end. Color is mahonagy and strong
Easily distinguishable levels, nice to drink, but no-go for me, too matte on the flavours and too herbal for my taste. But I can recommend if you want to test something a bit different :)
But this did not make me a fanboy either. It is smooth with caramel taste. But to sweet even for me who likes sweeter rums. Pricewise it is 30-35 EUR. I'd not deny sipping it at a party but won't buy this again for my cabinet.
Not my cup of rum, I don't like the chocolate taste in my drinks, for the rest it is OK....
I don't enjoy this rum very much. Overall just uninspirational with a nice presentation.
I feel the flavour profile is just clouded and not very interesting for me.
The plantation linup both the 7 and 15 I believe are just much more fun than this if you're into sweeter sipping rums. It's not bad but damn they do charge for this. Not a huge fan...
Definitely a good rum but it has a smoky taste in it which I am generally not very fond of.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A favourite of mine to take the edge off, drink straight and over ice, do not ruin this with a mixer. A bit stronger and stiffer compared to a mount gay XO or Zacapa but full of flavour. Odes of tropical fruit and Vanilla ooze from this rum making it great for straight drinking. If I were to have to suggest a mixer Iād maybe go with a smoky Coca Cola at best.
