Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Sittling here at midnight comparing the 12 Appleton against the Zacapa 23, because enough raters said the 12 was better. In my opinion, the Appleton is way inferior--dry, with a burn in the throat, and no interesting flavors. I had hoped that I would like the Appleton, but c'est la vie. I recently came to rum after decades of single malt whiskey. With single malts I appreciate a dry finish, the Islay way. With rum, I want a bit more sweetness. I don't get that in the Appleton 12.
Я не понимаю откуда такой рейтинг у этого рома. Возможно мне попался контрафакт. Но это хуже чем какой-то дешманский бакарди
If I'm in the mood for a rum and coke or a dark and stormy or something similar I like to put this one in charge for the job.
I never drink it neat.
This is one of the worst rums in its price category I have ever tasted. How does it taste? It doesnt. It has literally no taste profile, no dominant characteristics, no nothing. It was part of testing plate, and it was probably worst rum on the whole plate. I really dont see any reason why I would ever want to drink this thing again. There was nothing to remember about it. I assume Jamaican style is not for me, because this was so ordinary that it doesnt have any specific taste.
Manque de délicatesse mais très bon pour Santo Libre
Not as nice as expected, lots of contradictions. The more I drink it, the less I like it. The smell is interesting but not really nice, the taste too is intereseting but far to strong alcohol taste. Can't believe it is a 12yo. Would not buy it again for sure. Its so strong I think my car could use it if I run out of fuel.
Raw strong Jamaica dark rum. I had a bit problem to finish this bottle.
Not my cup of tea / rum :-)
To much alcohol smell from the bottle for a 12YO rum. My opinion.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

Does not have a lot of body for a 12 year aged rum and is very peppery; with each sip I feel like I've drank black pepper water that leaves a lot of unnecessary tingling. The flavor is not not bad but not smooth - burning and irritating. Will not buy as a sipping rum; and it's too expensive for mixing.
