El Dorado 21 is produced near the equator in Guyana by Demerara distillery. The final product is a blend of rums, aged between 21 and 25 years and crafted using 100% locally sourced Demerara sugar. Traditional tools are used in the distilling processes including three unique wooden stills. The rums rest until maturity in 45 gallon oak casks.

Color : Amber with dark gold gleam.
Flavour : Dry wood and spicy notes, well balanced with a light leather and nuts aroma.
Palate : Dry with excelent long lasting finish, the nuts and the wood remain long after ingestion.
I get brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, and toffee. As the glass sits I can pick up orange, spice and chocolate. It smells massively complex. Sadly dulled by the ageing practices
Love this!
A beautiful bright burnt orange, rust colored liquid with legs that slowly return to the pool below. Molasses, toffee, tobacco aromas and a complex flavor as it flows down the sides of the tongue and a long soft burn that ends soon after entering the throat. A very enjoyable sipping rum but I prefer ones that are darker with a deeper richer flavor.
A really nice, complex demerara rum. Though, pretty pricey compared to its younger brother totally worth it. For me a must have if you enjoy heavy dark rums and especially for those who liked the 12 or 15y El Dorado.
I've been lucky enough to be able to taste this rum during the Paris RumFest 2014. It was in my wishlist for a long time, so that I was really happy to be able to discover it, knowing that its small brother, 15 years old, is my absolute reference as far as aged rums are concerned.
Hence my expectation was very high and I must admit that I was a bit disappointed ... Indeed this rum is excellent but it is much more acid than the 15 yo. So that the 15 yo will remain my absolute reference.

"El Dorado 21-Year rum review by The Ultimate RumGuide"
There is an extra layer of oak in the profile.
"Notes of oak and a slight spiciness also comes through. The rum is very smooth and easy drinking but complex enough to ensure you savour each sip of the drink. The finish is long lasting."

Not one to buy in a miniature bottle, you must have at least three measures to fully experience the depth with this one, smooth all the way to the stomach, pleasing on the tongue...maybe a touch expensive (the 8 year is more pleasant on the pocket)..
