Judging only the taste, I would probably have scored this a 7/10. But when we are talking something this expensive, it has do hurt the grade that the rum is by no means special. Had I tasted this in a blind test, I would have guessed we were somewhere in the 70-100 euro category.
It is quite sweet and not very powerful. Paying this much for a rum, I want it to wrestle with my tastebuds. It doesn't.
I had a fantastic opportunity to taste 4 different Havana Clubs in Cuba. I have always been a fan of the 7 years old one.
Here is a summary of all the four.
1. Seleccion de Maestros
No too sweet, nice round taste, maybe little alcohol taste. Rum has 45% of alcohol so a small drop of water helps. Lot of fruits and some spice.
2. Anejo 15
More balanced and deeper in flavour than Seleccio de Maestros. Again, this might have something to do with Seleccios higher alcohol level. Flavours like apple, honey and spices.
3. Tributo 2016
A fantastic product, close to perfection. Really looking for the 2017 edition. Blend of rare casks some as old as 80 years H huge and long taste
4. Union
A collaboration between Havana Club and Chiba Cigars. You could actually say that nose and flavour has some tobacco and smoke in it. Maybe more sweet than other Havana Club products. For me the 2nd best so far.
Still looking for the Maximo, but price of about 1.500€ lets me still wait for it.
Reading the other comments i'm pretty sure i've got the right one! This.. with a good cigar, with a good friend! Perfect! One of the best rums i drank! Again, i'm no expert so i'll leave the notes and flavours to those who are but if you can ever buy or taste this, do it! Not cheap but sooo worth the money!

Has an added sweetness, chocolate and a little toffee.
"The rum is very sweet initially with an almost orange like flavour. It’s quite smoky but the citrus and the dried fruit flavours balance that out and the finish is quite long,."

350 CUC, ma blonde était fâchée, moi heureux 10 out of 10
